We offer a variety of classes on special topics on an occasional basis. Listed below are current classes:

THE PART GROUP

Offered by Family Tree Relief Nursery

Getting clean can be stressful and we all can use support. PART–Parents Are Recovering Together–is a support group for parents who wish to talk about parenting issues that come up when in recovery from alcohol or drug use. Operating year-round, the group meets every Thursday evening 5:00 – 6:30 (except for holidays). Child care, snacks and limited transportation available.

Who can attend? Any parent in recovery from alcohol or drug use.

What do we talk about? Recovery related issues, including: parenting, job seeking, day-to-day stressors

COURT MANDATED CO-PARENTING PROGRAM

Offered by Old Mill Center for Children and Families

This program helps support parents and children through the trauma of divorce or separation, helping parents address their children’s needs during and after divorce. This three-hour one-time class is offered twice per month.

Who can attend?  Parents referred by the courts (divorcing parents are asked to attend different classes)

What do we talk about?

  • This class helps parents focus on the needs of their children during and after a divorce.
  • Parents will receive help in separating spousal issues from parenting issues.
  • Topics include:
    – Grieving the loss and moving on
    – How children react to conflict
    – Active listening
    – Other strategies to help kids and parents cope with divorce
