FREE – Remote Parenting Coaching is now available!

Richard Halpern, M.A. is now offering parent coaching via Zoom session or by phone. This one-on-one support is available to Linn, Benton, and Lincoln County parents.

Parenting Coaching can help promote positive parent-child relationships, improve communication and problem solving skills. It can build on family strengths while supporting the development of new ideas and helpful strategies. Together you will identify skill building opportunities for children based on their age and stage of development. Find your own best way to parent.

Richard Halpern, M.A. has over 25 years’ experience working with families in schools and nonprofits. He teaches Parenting Education for Multnomah Family Court and  is certified as a Positive Discipline Parent Educator.

Resources for parents during our time at home

Looking for ways to provide educational experiences and entertainment for your kids during this time of social distancing? The Oregon Department of Education has provided a handy list.  It is available here:  Educational Resources

NEW RESOURCE: The Harvard Center on the Developing Child has released this podcast on supporting child development during a pandemic.

Join our online Parent/Child “Live and Learn” classes!

These courses are available to anyone with access to an internet device with a camera and microphone. Meet other parents/caregivers and their children as you prepare your child for a lifetime of learning. Learn how to support your child’s emotional, physical, and intellectual development through songs, activities, and group discussions. We have even added an evening class for parents with babies. Check out the calendar for remote class times and dates. 


In light of the precautions recommended by the CDC, our in-person parenting classes are on hold and will not be meeting until further notice.  If you have registered for a class, you should receive a personal message about your specific class.  We will post updates here and will contact people who have registered when classes resume.


Pollywog is a local program that links families to prenatal education and then later to parenting education, and can also assist with assist families in need of additional resources.  If you have children in the 0-5 year-old age range, please contact Pollywog and see what we can do to help.

2019-2020 School-Required Vaccination Lists

The Benton County Health Department just released a list of vaccines that your child must be immunized with in order to attend school, preschool or child care, according to Oregon law.

Each list contains detailed information about what age group is required to have which vaccines, and the number of doses required by the child’s age and how long ago they were vaccinated.  There are also vaccines listed that are recommended, but not required.

Oregon Parenting Together Newsletter

The May issue of the Oregon Parenting Together Newsletter has arrived. This issue focuses on Numeracy and Math Skills in Children. Numeracy is the ability to understand
numbers. Numeracy skills involve working with numbers, counting, solving number problems, measuring, sorting, noticing patterns, adding and subtracting numbers and more. Discover ideas for talking, everyday activities and play revolving around math concepts.
